Getting older way too fast..

The moment you realize you're actually getting older.. your priorites, thoughts and mindset starts changing up on you, telling you what you need to do, where you need to be.. gradually.., without even asking for your permission.. Like why??  I mean don't get me wrong I'm adjusting to it, the change and all, but make it stop.. I need more time, you know like backdated time, maybe like a yr or a couple more years.. cause.. I'm not ready..  not ready.. to grow up... YET...

Missed Opportunity (Seek God first)

Some time ago last year, At about 8 am in the morning while strolling to catch my Gobus for work by Square one, I wasn't really feeling the music on my playlist, so I decided to switch off the music and slide my phone back in my jacket pocket. As I looked ahead I saw from a distance,  a beggar on the street walking back and forth by the highway exit reaching out to cars for some change. I reached out for my wallet and pulled out a crisp twenty dollar note to give to him, I was so excited because I couldn't wait to see the look on his face while he received it. However, I  noticed something very interesting, I realized that as I walked closer towards his direction, he was walking farther away from mine. Obviously he had no idea how lucky he was about to get, rather he was more focused on his normal routine which was,  holding a sign and going from car to car asking for some change. I thought to myself, "okay, slow down a little, maybe he'll come towards your direction b...

Have you written down your goals?

In 2014, I had various goals I wanted to achieve, however, I didn't write them down. I did achieve a few short term goals, but not a lot of long term goals. This year I took it upon myself to spend 3 days writing all my goals and pinpointing everything I need to change in my life. Now it's quite easy to sit down and think about all the things you need to change and write them down, but it takes time to put it all in practice. Many people make New years resolutions and achieve them a few days or weeks into the New year, and fall back to their old ways. It is quite difficult to change what one is accustomed to, change in general is not an easy task, especially positive ones. But it is doable. I would give you guys a few tips on how to write a practical goals and ways to fulfilling them. I am no expert, I am just a beginner like you. Matter of fact I got most of these tips from Micheal Hyatt (google him), but I incorporated  a bit of my own idea to work better for me an...

RIP to a poetic Angel Maya Angelou (I wrote this on the day she died but didn't post it)

I wrote this on the day she died but can't remember why I didn't post it... Today we lost one of a kind, today we lost a pure and gentle soul Today we lost a warm heart, a heart filled with love and care, A teacher to many, A phenomenal woman and woman with sweet words of poetry, a legend in literary words, Today the world lost the legendary Maya Angelou. A woman whose heart was drawn to God, A woman who loved and feared God, she was admired by many, her subtle smile and her big laughter would always be remembered, now we take a moment a moment to honor the legendary Maya Angelou for a successful journey on planet earth, for making it this far and for touching the lives of people while her body was still left in the world. The impact she made, the lives she saved, the women she consoled and the legacy she created. I would like to take a moment here to honor Maya Angelou may your beautiful soul rest in the sweet bossom of peace. Odatspoetry

It's a New Year! What's the plan? choices, education and careers!

Hello Everyone! Happy New Year! wow it's 2015 already? I was going to post this article on the first of January but a few things came up. So yes I'm a little late guys! but better late than never right? 2014 was an amazing year for me, I finally graduated Uni (woohoo!) Now, that was a major accomplishment and I am very proud of myself. I honestly thought I would stay back one more year, because a lot of unexpected events occurred. However, God came through for me and every obstacle I faced during that little time, turned out to become a life lesson and a major blessing. Now fast-forward to life after graduation. The morning after June 5, 2014 I realized that life is not about just graduating university and receiving that paper we all know as a "degree". It is knowing exactly what you want to do after graduating. YES! If you don't know what you want to pursue after and if you haven't been investing some time out networking, volunteering and/or finding i...

I couldn't keep up with the plan :(

I am here to confess and not be an hypocrite! I couldn't keep up with the 58 days rule for disregarding social media, matter of fact I couldn't even keep up with the 2- 5 days rule, so I guess I am really attached to it. I need help! I really want to stay away from social media for some time, but it's quite hard Any ideas on what I could do to meet this goal? please comment below, Odatspoetry

My frustrating social media addiction (thoughts)

I'm sure we have all experienced the social media addiction, I am definitely guilty of it, I feel as though Facebook and Instagram has become a part of my daily routine. It's like brushing your teeth or taking a shower everyday. The first thing I do when I wake up even before praying or reading my Bible, I check how many people liked my pictures, commented or followed me on Instagram. It is a very shameful addiction and I'm sure many of us can attest to that. It even gets to a point where sometimes I feel as though I wasted my whole day on these silly apps and I look back saying damn I just wasted 24hrs. I am writing this note to myself to make a change, I know it is a personal/private decision, however, I decided to make it public because I do believe that there are many people suffering from the Instagram syndrome. it's embarrassing and sometimes it has a way of weighing down ones self-esteem, because it seems as though your life revolves around this app, an app t...

Prepare for Open heavens 2013

Open Heavens 2013 would be amazing! This year has obviously had its ups and downs, I faced many challenges with family, work, my academics, and relationship. However, God has granted me the strength to overcome and be the strong young lady that I've always been. Also, I am thankful for the gift of life! a lot of folks started this year and didn't make it this far, some are either terminally ill, laying helpless in the hospital bed, some are convicted and spending a lifetime in prison; some died in a car crash or just simply slept and did not wake up. Therefore, the fact that I am still alive and healthy, I definitely have a reason to shout and say THANK YOU LORD! I'm sure you are eager to know what this concert is all about, some of you are even puzzled by the name "open heavens" well continue reading and you would find out. Before I give you the 411 on this concert, I want to briefly explain the meaning of Open heavens. Open Heavens is "a pronounced inc...

Potentials (part 1) "Who am I"

I was watching a video on Youtube featuring Dr. Myles Munroe, a motivational speaker, leader, author, and founder of The Bahamas Faith Ministries International. If you haven't yet listened to him or read any of his books, I strongly recommend that you do! I posted a link below if you are interested in downloading his book for free and also where you can listen to him speak on Youtube. He was talking about "Pondering the pursuit of Purpose" and he mentioned five powerful questions that we human beings tend to continually ask ourselves, which is; who am I?  where am I from?  Why am I here? What can I do? and Where am I going?  I wrote these five questions down and thought carefully about them.  Sometimes we feel as though we know who we are but the truth is, many of us are confused about our identities. For example, I'm currently taking a University course that I'm still unsure about why I took it in the first place. I never enjoyed my "law" class i...

Introspection

"Honestly, I am not the Holiest; neither am I rebellious, I can say I'm in-between but is that really good enough? Sometimes I pray and sometimes I partay lol, I guess my prayers will compensate for my wasted Fridays… and later forgive me for the prospects of further days…... right? Well I'm guessing… Don't get me wrong, I'm not a bad person; I go to church on Sundays and try paying my tithes… Hum... It's 10% of your income right? Yea I think I only give like 5… Who cares! only I know what’s inside... but ay! I still gave something… That's sowing a seed… and don't think I'm smoking weed… C'mon that's too far I'm not into that stuff, It can really mess you up... (not that I know of.. I was actually told of...) Ok let’s get serious… I'm not being Hilarious...  You see, God is the reason for these spoken words, my life hasn't been something to write about... Sometimes I feel as though God doesn’t hear my prayers up there, mayb...

The Beauty Of Life...

A tiny little seed I was Still full of life With so much to give Vibrant As ever Nature is what I am Replaceable? Never!! Nobody knew my worth Couldn’t see what I had inside My outlook, so ordinary Personality, not in the dictionary Dirt was dug in my eyes Water splashed in my face Mud I ate Dogs came and polluted my hidden place How much more can I take? I cry to God every night Begging for His Merciful Light And hoping for a change In my little hole I began to rise With watery eyes As the I see the Sun Shine Looking down, I saw my shadow Confused but not shallow Woke up one morning with huge foot steps I was afraid, my face turned yellow Who are these creatures? I wondered as they came closer Big giants speaking some form of gibberish I didn’t move an inch, only the wind made me blink Closer they came and grabbed me by the neck "What the heck! I am innocent" I screamed But they couldn’t understand me when I spoke BOOM!! Stuck in a dark room I couldn’t breath I bega...
