Missed Opportunity (Seek God first)

Some time ago last year, At about 8 am in the morning while strolling to catch my Gobus for work by Square one, I wasn't really feeling the music on my playlist, so I decided to switch off the music and slide my phone back in my jacket pocket. As I looked ahead I saw from a distance,  a beggar on the street walking back and forth by the highway exit reaching out to cars for some change. I reached out for my wallet and pulled out a crisp twenty dollar note to give to him, I was so excited because I couldn't wait to see the look on his face while he received it. However, I  noticed something very interesting, I realized that as I walked closer towards his direction, he was walking farther away from mine. Obviously he had no idea how lucky he was about to get, rather he was more focused on his normal routine which was,  holding a sign and going from car to car asking for some change. I thought to myself, "okay, slow down a little, maybe he'll come towards your direction b

Have you written down your goals?

In 2014, I had various goals I wanted to achieve, however, I didn't write them down. I did achieve a few short term goals, but not a lot of long term goals. This year I took it upon myself to spend 3 days writing all my goals and pinpointing everything I need to change in my life. Now it's quite easy to sit down and think about all the things you need to change and write them down, but it takes time to put it all in practice. Many people make New years resolutions and achieve them a few days or weeks into the New year, and fall back to their old ways. It is quite difficult to change what one is accustomed to, change in general is not an easy task, especially positive ones. But it is doable. I would give you guys a few tips on how to write a practical goals and ways to fulfilling them. I am no expert, I am just a beginner like you. Matter of fact I got most of these tips from Micheal Hyatt (google him), but I incorporated  a bit of my own idea to work better for me an

RIP to a poetic Angel Maya Angelou (I wrote this on the day she died but didn't post it)

I wrote this on the day she died but can't remember why I didn't post it... Today we lost one of a kind, today we lost a pure and gentle soul Today we lost a warm heart, a heart filled with love and care, A teacher to many, A phenomenal woman and woman with sweet words of poetry, a legend in literary words, Today the world lost the legendary Maya Angelou. A woman whose heart was drawn to God, A woman who loved and feared God, she was admired by many, her subtle smile and her big laughter would always be remembered, now we take a moment a moment to honor the legendary Maya Angelou for a successful journey on planet earth, for making it this far and for touching the lives of people while her body was still left in the world. The impact she made, the lives she saved, the women she consoled and the legacy she created. I would like to take a moment here to honor Maya Angelou may your beautiful soul rest in the sweet bossom of peace. Odatspoetry

It's a New Year! What's the plan? choices, education and careers!

Hello Everyone! Happy New Year! wow it's 2015 already? I was going to post this article on the first of January but a few things came up. So yes I'm a little late guys! but better late than never right? 2014 was an amazing year for me, I finally graduated Uni (woohoo!) Now, that was a major accomplishment and I am very proud of myself. I honestly thought I would stay back one more year, because a lot of unexpected events occurred. However, God came through for me and every obstacle I faced during that little time, turned out to become a life lesson and a major blessing. Now fast-forward to life after graduation. The morning after June 5, 2014 I realized that life is not about just graduating university and receiving that paper we all know as a "degree". It is knowing exactly what you want to do after graduating. YES! If you don't know what you want to pursue after and if you haven't been investing some time out networking, volunteering and/or finding i
